The FirstEnergy Foundation recently donated $4,000 to Downtown Chambersburg Inc. to sponsor various events and support businesses. A total of $2,000 was given to The Foundry, an artist cooperative that offers a retail shop, art exhibits, classes and supply store stocked with new and gently used art supplies.
The FirstEnergy Foundation recently donated $4,000 to Downtown Chambersburg Inc. to sponsor various events and support businesses. A total of $2,000 was given to The Foundry, an artist cooperative that offers a retail shop, art exhibits, classes and supply store stocked with new and gently used art supplies. For general expenses for the inaugural Food Truck Fest - set for Oct. 25 in downtown Chambersburg - the foundation provided $750. It also donated $750 to sponsor a recent outdoor showing of the 2019 film “The Addams Family,” which the public could attend at no cost. Finally, the foundation gave $500 to help market Small Business Saturday, which falls the day after Black Friday each year and is meant to encourage people to patronize locally owned small businesses.

The foundation aims to help improve the quality of life in communities and support safety initiatives by advancing workforce development and educational initiatives; supporting employee leadership and volunteer interests that align with FirstEnergy’s business interests; and promote local and regional economic development.
